Body Fat Measurement: Percentage Vs. Body Mass

You have probably heard the following mentioned when starting a health/weight loss journey…BMI, Body fat percentage and wondered which one you need to worry about? I have always used the body fat % as a guideline with my clients. BMI can be inaccurate depending on the amount of lean muscle someone has as it takes an equation of weight and height. Therefore if you have a female body builder who is 5ft 4 and 150lbs she would be classed as overweight by BMI alone. Her body fat % would show a different story, maybe 10% which would put her in the athlete bracket because of the lean muscle.
